Life with a Standard Poodle
I never imagined a dog that would be a trusted companion as our Standard Poodles. They enjoy hanging out with their humans all the time. Poodles are clever and lively household companions. They are adaptable to their environments and are relatively easy to train—it’s no surprise that they were once very popular circus dogs. Not only are they beautiful, extremely smart and loyal, but poodles are also a joy to be around. They have many benefits that other breeds do not offer. One is the fact that they do not shed. The lack of shedding is great if you have allergies or just don’t like dog hair in your home.
You must be prepared to groom. Poodles need to be clipped and bathed regularly. They are very loving and gentle for being a larger dog breed. A lot of Standard Poodle owners call their dogs Spoos for short.
Poodles are active and agile. They are happiest with daily walks and lots of outdoor play. But they are also couch potatoes if given a chance. Poodles also love an opportunity to play in the water!
Poodles love being around people and can form bonds with each member of the family, as opposed to bonding with just one person. Poodles are ideal family dogs, being both patient and playful with children. They also make superb watchdogs, zealously barking when strangers approach the home.
